Job Summary

The Senior Project Engineer (Electrical) will lead the planning, coordination, and execution of electrical installation works on assigned construction projects. This role takes ownership of the electrical scope from design coordination through to testing, commissioning, and handover, ensuring works are delivered safely, on schedule, within budget, and in compliance with statutory and project requirements. The role also provides technical guidance and supervision to project engineers, site supervisors, and subcontractors.

Key Responsibilities

Plan, coordinate, and supervise the execution of electrical installation works (HV/LV distribution, switchgear, cabling, lighting, power, ELV systems) in accordance with approved drawings and specifications.

Review and coordinate electrical shop drawings, method statements, and material submissions with consultants, clients, and subcontractors.

Develop and monitor project schedules for electrical works, ensuring milestones and deadlines are met.

Manage and supervise electrical subcontractors, including work allocation, progress tracking, and quality control.

Ensure all electrical works comply with relevant codes, standards, and statutory authority requirements (e.g. SS 638, EMA, LTA, or equivalent local regulations).

Coordinate testing and commissioning of electrical systems, including liaison with authorities for inspection and approval.

Identify and resolve technical issues, design clashes, and site constraints in a timely manner.

Monitor site safety compliance for all electrical works and enforce adherence to safety regulations and company policies.

Prepare and review progress reports, technical submissions, variation orders, and as-built documentation.

Manage material and manpower resources to optimise productivity and cost efficiency.

Mentor and guide junior engineers and site staff on technical and safety matters.

Attend project meetings with clients, consultants, and authorities, representing the electrical engineering function.

Support cost control and budget monitoring for the electrical scope of works, working closely with the QS/commercial team.

Requirements

Degree or Diploma in Electrical Engineering or a related discipline.

Minimum 5 to 8 years of relevant experience in electrical installation works within the construction or building services industry, with prior project engineering or supervisory experience.

Sound knowledge of electrical systems, statutory requirements, and local regulatory approval processes.

Experience in testing and commissioning of electrical installations for commercial, industrial, or infrastructure projects.

Proficient in AutoCAD and Microsoft Office; familiarity with project scheduling software (e.g. MS Project) is an advantage.

Strong leadership, coordination, and problem-solving skills.

Good communication skills, with the ability to liaise effectively with clients, consultants, authorities, and subcontractors.

A recognised Licensed Electrical Worker (LEW) qualification or equivalent is an advantage.

Able to work on-site and manage multiple priorities under tight project timelines.
